What Happened to Lermont Stowers-Jones in
Denton, TX?
“Mont,” as he was known by loved ones was a senior at Denton High School with dreams of college and a career in law enforcement when on November 20, 2018, his lifeless body was discovered in the shallow waters of Hickory Creek just below Goat Man's Bridge - a site notorious in the local community for its association with legendary Ku Klux Klan murders and horror stories born out of the broader area’s extensive and documented history of racial violence.
Immediately dismissed as an “accidental drowning” by state and county investigators who took swift and coordinated action to convolute the disturbing truths surrounding the events that led to the discovery of Mont’s remains, his mysterious death remains unsolved.
More than two years later and Mont’s loved ones continue to fight for answers via an independent investigation.
